I’m Egle Giakoumis – Founder & Managing Director of Smooth Move - International Education Consultancy and your go-to expert for all things related to international schooling and relocation in Spain.

With a background in Social Sciences, a Master’s degree from the University of Edinburgh, and a career that’s taken me across five countries, I’ve turned navigating complex international systems into something of an art form. I’ve been the new kid in town more than once – from Athens to Edinburgh, Sofia, London, Vilnius to Madrid – and I know firsthand how overwhelming (and exciting!) a big move can be.
As a mother and an expatriate myself, I understand that relocating is more than just logistics—it’s deeply emotional. Choosing the right school, building a sense of belonging, and supporting your children as they adapt? I’ve been through it. I understand.​

While working as Admissions Manager at an international school in Madrid, I met countless families under immense pressure, often with just a few days to choose the right school. I witnessed the stress, the indecision, and the emotional toll it took, especially on parents trying to make life-changing decisions from afar. This experience is what truly inspired me to create Smooth Move - International Education Consultancy: to be the expert partner I knew so many families needed but didn’t have.
